As far back from the century, Tefa initiation is meant only for men, and not women.  
it is only orisa initiation that both man and woman can do.  
there are many verse from Odu Ifa that analyse or talk about this issue.  
If any Awo has learn deeply about Ifa, they will surely knows that the Ifa initiation is forbideen for women.  
Let look at one of the Orunmilas orikis to make the issue clear and simple.

From this oriki,it poit out that its the only orisas for men only.why cant they says is for women.  
with this orikis, it si enough for us to explain this issue.  
 
Am not saying that women should not take part in Ifa,women can be ifa practictional,but not initiating into Ifa or initiating anyone.  
As apetebi, woman has many role to play with his husband, but it has a limitation.  
In Ode Remo, women only get IDE IFA {Ifa beads}which represent the initiation for them.  
woman can have ifa but not the initiation.  
This is what our fore father has been doing since the creation and that is what we are still doing in ode remo.  
This IDE IFA can serve as protection against any problem, they may have in life.  
Woman can onlyget initiation into any of the following orisas, such as,obatala,osun,yemoja,omolu,buruku,egbese,sango,obalufon,iyami,egbe,olokun,yewa,etc.  
 
there is another orisa known as ORO,which is also forbideen for women,  
ifa is much much more powerful than this orisa,then why cant we say that women should be initiate int this orisa?no its forbideen.  
 
Many people who are not learn deeply into ifa has turn everything upside down,simply because of what they want to eat,or become rich urgently.  
 
you can ask many of this awo giving initiation to women that has his ancestor being doing this before?or did any of their fore father being doing this before?ity is capital NO.  
 
then why are we doing it now,what our ancestors did not happy with.  
 
many people are saying that once women can get orisa initiaton,then she can get ifa initiation,that is very very wrong idea.  
 
Ifa initiation is real, and different from Orisa initiation,but only the real awo knows this.  
Can anyone tells me any verse that Orunmila has making tefa to his wife? OR taking his wife to igbodu for initiation.  
 
Many people are doing this just as trick to become rich.  
 
As a good Babalawo we are suppose to be doing this,
